Taniguchi rode a bike to work and it took her about two hours. “It was a little hard,” the 19-year-old girl said, “because it was a bit cold here in Wisconsin.”

The two friends took part in a raffle (买彩票抽奖) at Christmas last year. The winner could get a car. Bridges’ car didn’t work well, but she still promised to give the car to Taniguchi if she won.

The moment Bridges heard her name at the Christmas party, she felt as if there were just them two in the room. They hugged each other and cried. Everyone else was either crying or cheering, too. “I can’t believe this is real,” Taniguchi said. “Now I can go to work by car.”

Taniguchi helped Bridges a lot while they were working at the restaurant. “She changed my life so much and I’m so happy to be the one to change her life, too. I made a promise and I must keep my word,” Bridges said.

If you have a brother or sister, you already know you are different. You live in the same house and with the same parents, but you have different personalities (性格). Why? One reason may be the way your parents think of you.

Firstborn children get more love from their parents. Most families have twice as many photos of a firstborn as any other child. Parents usually give firstborn children more responsibility (责任) and ask them to look after younger brothers or sisters. As a result, firstborn children are often responsible, hardworking and jealous (妒忌的). They often want to do well at school and work.

When a second child arrives, parents are more relaxed. The second child has to compete (竞争) with the firstborn for parents and love. These children often have different sports and interests to do well in at school and work, but they must have a new way to get their family’s care. They are often friendly and cool.

Do you think so?
