Many people like the taste of sugar. Do you know where we get sugar from? Most of our sugar comes from two plants: sugar cane (甘蔗) and sugar beets (甜菜). Sugar cane is a tall plant. It grows in hot countries. However, sugar beet grows in cool places.
There are many different kinds of sugar, and we use them in different ways. We can often see white sugar in our lives. You can put it in your tea or coffee. Brown sugar has a strong taste. People often use it to make cakes.
Is sugar nice or harmful? It’s difficult to say. In some traditional ways, sugar is useful for our bodies and makes us stronger. But eating too much sugar isn’t good for our teeth. It can hurt our teeth and make us fat. Being fat can bring us many health problems. So if you like sugar, it’s important to eat it in a right way. Make sure not to eat too much. A little sugar is fine and can give you some power. You can eat lots of healthy food like fruits and vegetables, take lots of exercise and make your teeth clean every day! In the future, cars will even run on sugar. Some people in America are making sugar into fuel (燃料) for their cars.
To stay healthy, we should remember: a little sugar goes a long way!

第一节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
Primary and middle schools in many Chinese cities have extended (延长) class breaks (课间休息) from 10 to 15 minutes. Because they want to encourage outdoor activities among both students and teachers.
Traditionally, students in China have enjoyed 10-minute breaks between classes. If students take classes on the third floor or above, a ten-minute break is not enough for them to do outdoor activities. The move helps to make sure that students can take part in at least 30 minutes of physical exercise a day. Many cities, including Beijing, Wuxi and Qingdao, have carried out 15-minute breaks.
★ In Beijing
After carrying out (实行) 15-minute breaks from the start of September, the times for morning arrival and afternoon dismissal (解散) remain the same in primary schools. The dismissal of middle schools has been extended by five minutes.
★ In Wuxi
Students are required to take no less than 100 minutes of exercise each day.
★ In Qingdao
Some primary schools in Qingdao introduce all kinds of outdoor games, such as jump rope and hula hoop exercises, during 15-minute breaks. According to a report, the percentage of Qingdao students who achieve “excellent” or “good” fitness ratings (等级) has increased by 10 percent to 47 percent.
Most people think having longer class breaks is of great help. For students, 这对他们的健康有好处. Because they can have more time to relax. Both parents and teachers also agree with 15-minute breaks. Longer class breaks can help improve students’ social skills in outdoor activities.
