China!
Hi, Abigail,

Sorry, I didn’t write yesterday, but it was such a busy day. I just didn’t get the time. We played our second volleyball match of the trip. It was against the under-15 Beijing champions (冠军) and they won easily. I also hurt my hand quite badly. The sports centre where we played was fantastic, really modern and much better than ours back home.

Anyway, I’ve got ten minutes to write to you quickly. Then I’m going to the bus station to catch a bus to Luanping. I’m so excited because we’re going to visit the Great Wall. It was probably the one thing I wanted to do most on this trip, after playing volleyball, of course! We’re going to explore the Jinshanling section of the wall. It’s in the mountains and it’s quite a walk to get up to it. But the views are amazing. I’m going to take loads of photos. Luanping is about 130 km away, so we’re going to spend the night there. Then we’re going back to Beijing for our last day in the city.

Our last match is in the afternoon, but I’m not going to play because of my hand. I can’t believe the trip is almost over. China is amazing and the Chinese people are so friendly. I want to stay longer.

Lots of love,

Bettina

Ne Zha suddenly came into my life. At first, I didn’t even know what it was. But soon, I saw it everywhere—on WeChat, Xiaohongshu and even toys. Many Chinese friends talked about this film excitedly. This made me really curious. Luckily, our school organized a special show for foreign students. I didn’t want to miss the chance. On Saturday, we met at the cinema to watch Ne Zha

The film’s animation (动画) skills surprised us. “The Glass Palace and the underground world show Chinese artists’ creativity,” said one of us. But Ne Zha is not only a cool character. Its story has different meanings for different ages—children love Ne Zha’s magical and funny moves, while young people hope to fight to be themselves like Ne Zha. Adults understand deeper ideas about family love.

Ne Zha mixes old Chinese stories with modern technology perfectly. Foreign student Nick said, “It tells us that China can share its rich culture by using new technology.” The movie’s success isn’t just luck—it shows young Chinese people’s pride (自豪) in their culture.

Most importantly, Ne Zha isn’t just a film. It teaches us that even someone “different” can be a hero. By using old stories, it helps the world see China’s culture and its people’s big dreams. Like a lighthouse, Ne Zha lights up a new path for stories that bridge the past to the future.

A. To explain why Ne Zha is a hero for children.

B. To share the cultural and artistic success of Ne Zha.

20. Where can we probably find the passage?

A. A comic book. B. A cartoon poster.C.A science book. D. A film magazine.

Have you ever dreamed about traveling through time to meet your future self? Thanks to creative AI, this dream is now a reality! Scientists from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) developed a system called Future You. To reduce (减少) worries and help make better decisions, the system lets people talk to their future selves.

According to studies, imagining your future self can greatly change long-term choices. You may realize how much money you need to save for the future. You may also change your attitude towards study at school. The system makes the simulation (模拟) so real that it shows clear details. It’s better than just imagining the future without doing anything.

Here’s how it works. First, users answer many questions about their lives now. They also share their important things and future plans. Then, Future You creates a digital version (电子版) of the user at age 60. This future self can answer questions about the coming future and give useful tips.

In a user study, after talking with Future You for about 30 minutes, people said they felt less worried and had a stronger sense of connection with their future selves. Pat, who finished further studies at MIT’s Media Lab, said, “We don’t have a real time machine, but this version helps people think about the results of their choices today. If you get advice from a future ‘you’, it can be more helpful than receiving it from a regular AI.” This meaningful experience can help people see themselves and the world differently.

21. Why did scientists develop the Future You system?

A. To have and realize a dream.

B. To meet and talk to future people.

C. To reduce worries and improve choices.

D. To time-travel and meet future scientists.

22. How does Future You work first?

A. By answering users’ questions.

B. By giving users some useful advice.

C. By making an image of users in old age.

D. By getting users’ personal information.

23. What can we infer (推断) from Pat’s words?

A. Future You will have a real time machine.

B. Future You will replace human decisions.

C. Future You gives better advice than a regular AI.

D. Future You can bring us to real places in the future.

24. What is the author’s attitude towards the“Future You” system?

A. Hopeful.                  B. Nervous.                  C. Doubtful.                 D. Complaining.

25. Which can be the best title for the passage?

A. AI Can Tell You What Will Happen Exactly.

B. AI Helps People Talk to Their Future Selves.

C. Scientists Invent a Time Machine for the Future.

D. Talking to Your Future Self Makes You Study Better.
